Additional information
- You do not need to be on Facebook to see these videos.
- The videos there are ordered most recent to least, and when the live stream is going on it will be the big video at the top. If the live stream has ended, Facebook may put a different video at the top as "most popular" (i.e., not necessarily "most recent").
- You should test the site now. Since there are existing videos and the interface is the same, testing now will allow you to contact us in advance if there are issues.
- On the day of, we will start the video stream during set up. You can text us if there are issues, but we will stop responding approximately 5 minutes before we start.
Facebook Video Feed
We are aware some (many) people do not have a Facebook account. No account is needed to access the videos. We have had reports of people having trouble accessing the video feeds. Here are a list of things to try to resolve issues around accessing the video site:
- All browsers should work. However, if you have problems with one browser, you can try another.
- If you have issues, or want to protect your privacy, we recommend trying a private window (chrome calls it an incognito window). The primary benefit of private windows is that (usually) a new window will start out with no cookies.
- Another thing that might fix a problem is to clear your cookies. If you don't know what that means, please use a Private window instead.
- If you have problems in advance, contact us and we'll do what we can to help figure out how you can access the videos.
- If you're not technically inclined, you could also have your favorite personal tech support at the ready to help you. Note: Neither Sean nor Elizabeth can be personal tech support in this instance.
Browsers
- DuckDuckGo (for macOS) – I don't know if there's a version for windows. This has become my browser of choice for my non-work computer.
- Safari – built in to macOS, but basically unavailable for Windows (which is why there's no link). I use this all the time at work, so I know it works fine with Facebook (but not always for their internal tools).
- Firefox – my primary alternative browser at work when Safari doesn't work properly.
- Chrome – I don't even want to put this on the list, but frankly, it's what is assumed you are using where I work. I hate it. I don't recommend it. It's a memory hog, and has more CVEs than any other browser (at least for 2022)
- Edge – built in to Windows 10 and 11, you can download it for macOS, if you really want to. I wouldn't recommend it.
- insert your browser here – You could download Brave, Vivaldi, or a host of other browsers. But seriously, Facebook tried to make EVERY browser work, and you don't need to download an exotic browser to watch the livestream.
